Yes, I am talking about the beloved card game with the Spanish name. Only this game does not use actual cards. The cards are more of the virtual consistency since I am talking about UNO on the PSN. Now, it is true that UNO has been available for some time on XBLA, but I am going to focus on the PSN version since it was just released last month...

Gameloft has managed to yet bring us another mediocre casual gaming title for under $10. I like the Gameloft titles, but I absolutely abhor the choices they make in deciding which trophies they make for the games (check out Brain Challenge trophies). Anyway, I shouldn't harp on them to much as all but 1 of the trophies is somewhat easily manageable. The one that bites my ass is a Gold Trophy where you need to check the leaderboard and be in the Top 50. Yes, the Top 50 of over 20,000 players. Who thought that would be a good idea over at Gameloft? Hey, let's make a trophy that will piss off thousands of casual gamers, yes...casual gamers! Grandma is trying to get her UNO on and she will need to play until her social security runs out to get that DAMN TROPHY!
Obviously, the quicker you are to play this game, the easier it is to get this dumb trophy. The only problem is that you are only able to play other gamers that have a similar rank as you in a ranked game. WTF? This game is not Halo. This game is not Call of Duty. This is a game of luck and little skill and I can't play others that are online because they have played 100 games and i have only played 50. What is the difference? So, instead I go online and just hope that someone around my level is on and I can hope on for a bit to boost my rank on the leaderboard. More often than not, there is no one to play with and go play Mainichi Issho instead.
Just my rant. Uno remains to be fun for all ages. |
